Tradition becomes a way of life...

Back in 1895, our great-grandfather Xosé decided to follow the footsteps of the Romans, the first people to inhabit this land, by collecting honey. As he crafted those first hives from rubber with his own hands, he didn’t know he was starting a family tradition that would be continued by his son, our grandfather Xaquín and his wife, our grandmother Pura, who gave everything to caring for the bees and keeping up our family’s bee-keeping tradition.

The years went on, until our father, Antonio, started to realise that the use of genetically modified crops, chemicals and pesticides wasn't good for the environment. He started to look for new locations for his hives, in places far from these new chemicals, which at the time were becoming more and more common.

"Preserving the most precious thing we have: “Nature”"

At this point everything changed, and the hives could not be positioned in just any location. He had to protect the bees and their work from places where they might come into contact with harmful substances. The well-being of the bees and the quality of their honey therefore became the everyday priority, in order to continue collecting pure, natural honey, touched by nothing other than nature.

Our father passed down these values to us, pressing on us the importance of the bees’ health and the quality of the product, above everything else. We, the fourth generation, continue to work under this premise, passing the same values on to our children, who are already taking an interest in this organised and hard-working little creatures that are so important for our existence and for the recovery of our natural resources. Lola will be the image of the fifth generation. A new generation full of passion, which makes use of technical advances to maintain PURAMEL, never losing sight of respect for the countryside, for the bees and caring for the greatest gift we have in life: NATURE.
